Born in 1980 in Tartu. Graduated from Miina Härma Gymnasium (1998) and from the University of Tartu (2002, major in Estonian literature). Defended MA in world literature (2004) and PhD in comparative literary studies (2009) with the thesis "The Reconciliatory Purpose of Literature". Besides research activities he has translated fiction and theoretical works and has written plays and criticism.
